It’s shocking that in 2024, black and brown people are still subjected to verbal and physical attacks solely based on the colour of their skin. When we hear about the numerous shootings and assaults in the United States, we, as UK citizens, are understandably appalled. Yet, after condemning the events, many of us simply carry on with our day and count our blessings that we are not in the US.

Last week, however, we witnessed a series of both isolated and connected racist attacks here at home, sparked by the actions of a single individual against innocent civilians.
These events have revealed a troubling truth: certain individuals have been eagerly waiting for any excuse to unleash their racist views. They care nothing for the lives lost; their only concern is that the perpetrator was a person of colour.
The idea that immigrants have "stolen" jobs is perhaps the most absurd form of ignorance. Immigrants were invited to help rebuild 'your' country, and in return, before and after, 'your country' has continued to plunder culture and resources from 'our' countries. Without immigrants, this so-called "Great" Britain would amount to little more than dust. The entitlement is staggering, and the hatred is palpable.
My advice to minorities has been consistent: hold your head high, walk confidently, and don’t engage with those who replace intelligence with ignorance and stupidity.
There is no place for racism and the fact that they are so disturbed by your presence means you win, and they lose!
